Invitation to Thanksgiving

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
Colossians 2:6-7

Oh, how I love these verses.  My greatest desire is to continue to be strengthened in my faith, but more importantly I want to overflow with thankfulness. As the end of the year approaches, I love how Thanksgiving is placed right before the celebration of my Savior, the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

This month’s practice of daily Thanksgiving has the potential to radically shape your heart and prepare you for more than just turkey dinners, black Friday shopping, and the holiday craziness. I don’t know about you, but I long for a life that is filled with praise, adoration, joy and Thanksgiving.

So today, I invite you along on this month’s daily practice of gratitude.  It does not take long, but it does indeed have the potential to change your heart and bring a beautiful focus to your day. I like doing this practice on my computer as it is then saved in my Gratitude folder.  Each year I can go back and remember what GOD was doing in my heart and then celebrate this day with thanksgiving.

Here is what I do. I simply write, “Today I am grateful for_____________.”  I think about my day and then write brief words of thankfulness.

Here is a brief example of the beginnings of my journal entries for 2018:

November 1:

I am grateful for family gatherings. 33 family members all gathered to celebrate Thanksgiving with Jon and Christina.

November 2:

I am grateful for Jackson Timothy Werner’s Birthday.
I love this little boy.

November 3:

I am grateful for Sabbath Rest at the beach.

November 4:

I am grateful for Circle Studio Players incredible performance and amazing talent.

So I invite you today to, “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.”
As I read these verses today my heart affirms these desires and truths.
I will sing with joy.
I will extol my God with music and song.
I will be thankful.
For He is a great God and worthy of praise.
As you embrace these truths watch what God will do in your soul. Be curious and attentive to His whispers.  Write them in your journal and then share them with your family. Expressed gratitude is powerful.I close this brief reflection with a very full and grateful heart for all that GOD is doing and will do in my soul this month. How about you?

I would love to hear from you.
