As we come to the close of October and begin getting ready for the holidays, I am excited to share a practice that has powerful ramifications. The Practice of Reflection provides the opportunity to reset, recalibrate, and renew your desires and goals in order to accomplish the things your heart longs for.
So often we just move from day to day, month to month, year to year without stated desires and goals. As a result, we come to the end of the day, the month, or the year and look back, wondering what we did.
What if today was different? As you close out the last 30 days, take time to reflect but also spend time thinking and planning for a new day, a new future, and a new story. We each get to choose.
I love what I learned from The Strategic Coach several years ago.
I was challenged with three simple ideas:
1. Choose the future you want.
2. Decide what part of the past gets to come along.
3. Utilize the present to make the best possible progress.
So today, begin thinking about what you desire for the month of November. What will be different? What can you bring from your past practices that brought you life and sweet fulfillment over the last several weeks?
Have you found a sacred place to meet with Jesus every day? What have you enjoyed in your reading, in your journal keeping, in your strategic withdrawal?
Do it more… keep going. Progress is powerful.
Ponder these truths:
Proclaim God’s love in the morning and then before going to bed, reflect on your day and thank God for His faithfulness to you and your family. Why? Because it is good to give God praise!
It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night. Psalm 92:1-2
Reflection will bring insight:
Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this. 2 Timothy 2:7
Look to the Lord and his strength: seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done… Psalm 104:4-5
Desires Accomplished Bring Fulfillment:
The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul… Proverbs 13:18a
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him. Psalm 37:4-7
Today, I invite you to reflect, reset, and reignite your intentions in order for your next 30 days to be the best days ever.
I cannot wait to share with you next week my Invitation to Thanksgiving.
With great love,
