Promise 5

When I make my personal growth a priority and seek to learn from others who have successfully navigated through life’s challenges, I will discover the purpose and intention for which I have been created.

Proverbs 13:20a – Those who walk with the wise will be wise . . .

Every one of us has been created for a purpose. How is that purpose revealed? How will I discover it? Will it be the same my entire life? What things do I need to put in my life now to help me with the personal discovery process? What values are important to me?

These are all very important questions. Questions that if they go unanswered will cause a life of frustration, burden, and a lack of fullfilment.

I believe every human being was designed to fulfill a big dream. A dream that was crafted uniquely for them. The dream comprises of our inward wiring, our passions, our strengths and our spiritual gifts. Each woman must make her personal growth a priority in order to clearly identify and articulate her mission.

We must define what matters to us most. Could you identify your top 5 values? Values can become a motivating source, an opportunity to plant deeply into our being what is important. Values can be family, commitment, compassion, courage, freedom, knowledge, perseverance, service to others, just to name a few. If we lack a strong sense of purpose we cannot hold our ground when we are challenged by life’s inevitable storms.

The thing that keeps us from finding meaning are failure to actively engage in life and a certain laziness or lack of caring that allows us to let others make our decisions and tell us what things mean.

We must define and then own our choices! Define who you are and then live it passionately with purpose.

Think about the following:

• Jump ahead to the end of your life. What are the three most important lessons you have learned and why are they so critical?

• Think of someone that you deeply respect. Describe three qualities in this person that you most admire.

• Who are you at your best?

• What one sentence inscription would you like to see on your tombstone that would capture who you really were in your life.

Don’t ignore this. It takes time and personal discipline. It is time today to begin understanding YOU! You will one day give account to the God who created you and you will either be so excited or so ashamed. You decide.

Psalm 139:14 – I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Psalm 89:1 – I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 139:17 – How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

Psalm 139:23-24 – Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Proverbs 20:18 – Every purpose is established by counsel . . .

Romans 9:17-21 – For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”

Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.

One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who resists his will?”

But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, “Why did you make me like this?”

Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use?

Psalm 37:3-5 – Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

God is CRAZY about you and HE wants you to closely partner with Him. Will you commit your ways to Him? Will you delight and learn as much as you can for HIS glory? Spend today thinking and talking with others that you admire. Spend time reading the scripture as well as materials that will help you on your journey. Spend time with the wise.

You will be so glad you did. Remember your life story will be told based on how you live today.
